American Airlines Comments on Fly&Dine’s Marcus Samuelsson Story

Posted in American Airlines, Domestic US, In the Air

Last week, I wrote about the disappearance of Marcus Samuelsson branding on American Airlines’ in-flight menus. Top Chef Samuelsson had been a consulting chef for American and designed some of their on-board dining options, but while the items listed matched the products formerly listed as Samuelsson creations, they no longer mentioned the Top Chef Masters winner.

Now, representatives from American Airlines issued this exclusive statement to Fly&Dine:

“We’re always doing our best to keep a pulse on consumer tastes and trends in order to provide the right variety and selection to our inflight menus. We continually revise our food and beverage program to make sure we meet the needs of our customers and provide the best onboard experience. Although we will no longer offer items designed by Chef Samuelsson onboard, American will continue to work with consulting chefs to design inflight dining options on project-by-project bases in an effort to keep things fresh for our customers.â€

There you have it. Bye bye, Chef. It’s been a fun ride.

  1. Oh I can see it now—they are going with former TCM winner Chris Cosentino because of his adventurous pig trotters?
