American Airlines Offers Up to 100,000 Bonus Miles for Going to Asia

Posted in American Airlines, In the Air

This deal? It’s a good one — as long as you’re traveling from DFW or ORD to Hong Kong or Shanghai.

Here’s how it works: to celebrate their new non-stop routes, American is offering bonus points on top of your regularly earned mileage. All you have to do is enter code ASIA2 on the promotions page (this link should do the trick) and depending on your cabin of travel, you’ll get extra AAdvantage miles. You need to be flying from Chicago (ORD) to Shanghai (PVG) or Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to either Hong Kong (HKG) or Shanghai (PVG).

If you’re in First or Business, you get 25,000 bonus miles per round-trip (redeemable up to four times). If you’re in Economy (Y, B, H, K, M, L or V), you get 10,000 miles and if you’re in Discount Economy (G, S, N, or Q), you’ll snag 5,000. This promo is valid from now until December 6, 2014, so make sure to register for the deal and find a reason to head to Asia so you can start hitting that bonus.

One important note: those bonus miles don’t count towards Elite Status Qualification, so don’t book your flight with the expectation that the extra bump is going to help you cross into Platinum territory. The regular flight miles still count, just not the bonus.
