Fly&Dine Goes to Madrid!

Posted in Europe, On the Ground, Spain

Hola, amigos! I’ve been practicing my Spanish for the past week (I’d say I’m up to a 3rd or 4th grade level at this point) because I’m heading to Madrid! I can’t wait to check out the newly remodeled NH EuroBuilding Hotel — they’re the generous souls taking me to Spain — and I doubly can’t wait to eat my weight in jamon. That’s ham to you non-Spanish experts like me.

Spain’s been a dream destination of mine for a while. Let’s be honest: it’s mostly because of the food. Paella, chorizo, pan con tomate, churros, tapas, tapas, and more tapas — it’s all amazing. I’m a firm believer that Manchego cheese and jamon Iberico can cure any bad mood. A little Rioja never hurt anyone either.

I might do the tourist thing and hit the Prado and other Madrid landmarks, but I’m going to do my best to find the undiscovered spots. A tiny bar with amazing pinxtos; a small shop serving a special idiazabal cheese that you can only find within Spanish borders; a street vendor grilling homemade chorizo. These are the culinary experiences I live for when I travel and I have no fear that Spain will come through with flying colors.

Join me on my journey through Spain all week. I’ll be posting as much as I can so you can pretend you’re right here with me.

Salud!
