JetBlue Mint Attempts to Take Over the Caribbean

Mint, JetBlue’s first class product, is coming to an airport near you. In fact, it’s already there if you live in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York. Now JetBlue is rolling out Mint to their Caribbean destinations and that’s good news for anyone that wants to turn their vacation into a First Class affair.

The new routes are seasonal and limited to Barbados (BGI) and Aruba (AUA) from New York’s JFK Airport. Starting November 7th, 2015 and running into April, passengers can fly JetBlue’s new A321s roundtrip every Saturday. During the high-volume winter break season (12/19-1/4), those flights increase to every single day.

If you’ve ever flown Mint, you know it’s a more bespoke/custom experience than most of its first class competitors. Instead of a set meal, you get to choose several small plates from the Saxon + Parole menu. JetBlue claims it’s adding a Caribbean twist to the menu, but doesn’t say exactly how.

Personally, I hope JetBlue expands Mint to every route they fly. It’s a much more affordable product than most other first class offerings (starting at $599) and with fully lie-flat seats, I can see honeymooners flying down to Aruba in style this way.

Check out my review of Mint here and let me know what you think about Mint if you’ve had a chance to check it out.
