New Vegetarian Menu on JAL

Lots of JAL food news in the past weeks. Check out the previous posts here. While last week brought news of a new Chef in the Sky and updates to the JAP Lounge menu at HND, this week brings good news for vegetarians, Japanese and otherwise. Just like before, I’m not going to rewrite the press release for you. Instead, I’ll just repost it here:

JAL Offers New Vegetarian Menus on Select International Routes
~ Pursue deliciously vegetarian meals in collaboration with the professionals ~

Japan Airlines (JAL) will provide new vegetarian menus on select international routes, in collaboration with Minna no Gohan, a professional company developing various special meals including vegetarian dishes, starting June 1, 2015.

Pursue to deliver deliciousness of in-flight meal service to vegetarian customers, JAL’s new vegetarian meals highlight its tapestry of flavors, colors and textures by using original ingredients and sauce such as soybean meat, minced konjak and vegetable demi-glace sauce.

JAL will continually embrace new challenges to serve customers with more innovative products and high-quality services.

Flights from Tokyo (Narita) to New York (JFK), Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Paris, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong

Flights from Tokyo (Haneda) to London, Paris, Honolulu, San Francisco, Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul (Gimpo)*1 and Taipei (Songshan)

*1 Vegetarian meal service is only available in Business Class on Seoul (Gimpo) route and for more information about special in-flight meal service, please visit: http://www.jal.co.jp/en/inflight/s_meal/

3. New Vegetarian Menu in Business Class (example):

Tatsuta-Age soy meat with tomato sauce

-Brownie with Raspberry sauce

And there you have it. I’m curious to know if that tatsuta-age is any good, so please let me know if you’ve tried it.
