If you’re a member of the Starwood Preferred Guest program and you also happen to carry an American Express card, get ready to earn some bonus Starpoints. SPG is offering its richest Sheraton Club points giveaway ever — up to 3,000 extra Starpoints (500 for one night, 1,000 for two nights, 3,000 for three nights) — if you book a stay in their Sheraton Club rooms between now and November 30th.
Why does that matter to the culinary traveler? It all comes down to my favorite b-word: breakfast. Hit up the Sheraton Club lounge (there are more than 350 around the world) and start your day right with complimentary breakfast. You also get premium beverage service and hors d’oeuvres throughout the day, meaning if you play your cards right, you can eat all day without spending a dime on food or drinks. The average upgrade fee is $75, which wouldn’t exactly be worth it just for food and drinks, but in some very light scouting, I found that you can book a Club room for much less than that. For example, the lowest rates advertised for the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at the Atlanta airport is $159, but a Club room goes for $184, a mere $25 more for awesome lounge access. That means you’re paying $25 for breakfast, drinks, and snacks and that, my friends, is an excellent deal. You add in those 3,000 Starpoints [good for a free room in Category 1 &Â 2 (weekends only for Cat2)] and that’s a major score.
To recap: Book a club room at a Sheraton property with your American Express card before 11/30/14, get a whole bunch of bonus points.
