Okay, okay, so there’s no such thing as “Virgin Airlines,” but I won’t fault Portlandia too much for that. Do you watch Portlandia? I do. I love it. It’s Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney) sending up the idiosyncrasies of PDX in the most hilarious way possible: via a sketch show on IFC. Their new season premieres on Thursday and to celebrate, IFC released this long (11 minute) video of “The Celery Incident,” a brooding, noirish look at the cut-throat world of vegetable marketing starring indie-superstar Steve Buscemi.
If this doesn’t seem Fly&Dine worthy, just you wait. At just before the two-minute mark, Fred Arminsen as Brussels sprouts marketer “Bill” announces that he’s made a deal with “Virgin Airlines” (Virgin America, perhaps? All of the Virgin Airlines???) to offer Brussels sprouts — as a dessert! “Honey and maple syrup,” he cockily declares. It’s awesome. Check out the whole video for a mini-movie to start your day, but be forewarned — there are some vaguely NSFW parts involved. Watch it here:
